Rodney
Martinez

“My work captures the emotion of Negros’ landscapes, where color, memory, and lived experience meet.”

Artist Bio

Rodney Martinez stands as one of the enduring pillars of Philippine visual arts. A founding member and current President of the esteemed Art Association of Bacolod–Negros, he has helped shape a strong creative movement in Negros, nurturing generations of local artists and preserving the region’s cultural identity through art.

His works are drawn from the quiet poetry of provincial life—scenes of fields, shores, and skies vibrating with memory. Martinez’s signature brushwork carries a balance of boldness and subtlety: bright tones softened by shadows, colors layered in a rhythm that feels both familiar and dreamlike. His seascapes, in particular, are known for their emotive depth—strokes that echo the tides, the wind, and the unspoken stories of the islands.

More than paintings, Rodney’s compositions are reflections of place, spirit, and lived experience—where the land and sea become not just subjects, but personal histories rendered in color.
