Ellie Ng is a Diploma holder in Fashion and Textile Design from the Malaysian Institute of Art (MIA), graduating in 1999, and a self-taught artist with over 25 years of experience across diverse creative disciplines. Art and craft have been woven into her life since childhood—she grew up transforming anything recyclable, shapeable, or deformable into expressive artworks. Ellie paints and draws on any surface that inspires her, including walls, glass, wood, fabrics, canvas, paper, and even the human body. Her artistic practice extends far beyond traditional media.

Ellie is passionate about upcycling and repurposing discarded or natural materials into sculptures, lighting pieces, and functional art. Through this process, she blends sustainability with creativity, giving new life and meaning to materials that might otherwise be forgotten. In recent years, Ellie has also begun writing stories, developing narratives based on the characters she first painted in 2015.

She hopes to continue expanding these stories through both illustrations and written work. Since entering the Fashion and Textile industry in 1996, Ellie has drawn deep inspiration from texture, nature, culture, and human behavior. Her life experiences have shaped her into a quiet observer—often introverted, yet deeply expressive through her art. Her poetic inner world and meticulous attention to detail are reflected in every piece she creates.

Versatility is central to Ellie’s creative journey. She constantly challenges herself to step beyond her comfort zone, experiment with new techniques, and innovate in ways that feel authentic to her artistic voice. She firmly believes in the power of imagination, enthusiasm, and persistence—trusting that dreams, whether big or small, can be brought to life through creativity and passion. Through her artwork, Ellie hopes to bring joy, spark curiosity, and inspire others to explore, imagine, and think more deeply.
